Circles of Support

“Circles of Support”  is a programme that we introduced in the 2018/19 school year. It’s a programme that facilitates children to discuss and share ideas on topics that they have identified themselves. For some Circles the topic might be “Friendships”, for others it could be “Worries”.  The topic depends on what has been identified in the class/year group.

The children come together in small groups of 8 with one of our Support Teachers, once a week for 6 weeks. Every child in the class, will hopefully, at some stage, participate in the programme.

The Circles focus on communication, listening skills and problem-solving. The aim is to create a comfortable atmosphere where the children can relax, have fun and learn skills and strategies to support one another. The feedback from children who have participated in Circles of Support has been positive and encouraging.

Due to the restrictions imposed by Covid-19 our Circles weren’t able to meet over the last two years. We look forward to the children returning to Circles of Support in the coming school year.
