“Turning of the Sod” Ceremony

The day finally arrived and we are overjoyed here in Scoil Íosagáin. After many years of waiting, many disappointments and false hopes, we have, at long last, turned the sod for a new school at Scoil Íosagáin. It was a pleasure to have our school Patron, Bishop Donal McKeown, perform the “turning of the sod” ceremony, together with Fr. Bradley, Fr. Walsh, members of the Board of Management, representatives from the design team and our contractors Boyle Construction. Our choir sang beautifully and our Student Council represented the school with great respect. Thanks to all who joined us on this historic occasion, including parents, parishioners, teachers from neighbouring schools, retired colleagues and elected representatives. A special thanks to Mary Coyle and Noeleen Galbraith, two of the oldest past pupils of the Sacred Heart School, for coming along and making the occasion even more special. This day marked the beginning of a new era for our school. Thank God.
